Einiges davon gestaltete sich gar nicht so einfach – rund um Weihnachten und Silvester herrscht Hochbetrieb und viele Casas, sowie alle Busse nach Havanna für den nächsten Tag waren schon ausgebucht. You can get to Matanzas quite easily – it’s around 50 kilometers (31 miles) from Varadero.  The Viazul Bus (see our guide for how these buses work here) runs from Varadero to Matanzas 3 times a day, but it’s not always a good time for making a day trip to Matanzas from Varadero.    You must buy a ticket at least an hour ahead of time from the Viazul terminal on the corner of Calle 36 and the highway – one block off of the main street and availability is not good at the last minute.

You’ll also be able to grab a taxi on the street or flag down a shared van.  Always agree on the price before you get in and make sure that you know if the price is for the car or per person.

If you’re taking a day trip to Matanzas you’ll want to see at least some of the 17 bridges that this “city of bridges” is famous for.  The Puente de Bacunayagua is the highest in Cuba, resting 100 meters near the River Yumuri.   Taking a walk around the center of Matanzas is tagesausflüge kanton zürich – you’ll want to stop at the San Severino Castle Museum where you can take a guided tour of the castle and fortress and understand a little about slavery in Cuba too.   Wander through Parque Libertad – a lovely green space at the heart of Matanzas.  The Sauto Theatre is also rather picturesque.   For museum lovers, the Pharmaceutical Museum (Museo Farmaceutico) in front of Parque Libertad, is a stunning display of a 19th-century pharmacy and a guided tour is well worth it.  (I think it’s better than the one in Havana).  Finally, while you’re out this way, I’d recommend including a trip to Bellamar Caves.  They’re some of the biggest and most impressive in the Caribbean (there are more caves scharbeutz ausflüge in the Vinales region to explore).   The Bellamar Caves were discovered in 1861 and are about 5 kilometers (3 miles) to the southeast of Matanzas.  Guided tours are available and entry costs around US$8. 

An alternative to Bellamar Caves or an addition even is the Cueva de Saturno (Saturn Cave) – it’s a cenote  – which has stalactites, blind cavefish, and cave shrimp.  Swimming in the freshwater here is ausflüge lübeck umgebung popular and you can also arrange to dive in the cenote.  Entry costs US$5 and the Cueva de Saturno is 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) from Matanzas.

If you’re considering a day trip from Varadero to Matanzas, we really do recommend either organizing your own itinerary and route, planning it via a private transfer/taxi, and making the most of your day in Matanzas or booking a tour that takes you to all the important places.

Besonders die bunten Oldtimer auf Kubas Straßen haben es ihr angetan, am liebsten hätte sie einen ganzen Fuhrpark. Diese Süßwasser-Cenote ist ideal vereinsausflüge schützen Schnorcheln und Tauchen in ihrem kühlen, kristallklaren Wasser. Sehr empfehlenswert für alle, die die Schönheit von Varadero erkunden möchten.

Unser Ausflug zur Saturno-Höhle war spektakulär.

In dieser Mischung aus touristischer Sehenswürdigkeit und authentischem kubanischen Leben fühlten wir berlin ausflüge junge leute wohl. Ich wette, Kuba würde mir richtig gut gefallen. Die Straßen ausflüge in den osterferien sauberer und es gibt Kioske, die Snacks verkaufen.

Saturno-Höhle

Für abenteuerlustige Seelen ist die Saturno-Höhle ein Naturwunder, das man nicht verpassen sollte.

Doch sie bat uns herzlich herein, wir mussten also richtig sein.

Plaza Vieja

Die Plaza Vieja war von unserer Unterkunft nur wenige Minuten entfernt und so immer unsere erste Anlaufstelle für Erkundungstouren. Wir besichtigten einige Sehenswürdigkeiten Havannas: El Cristo de la Habana ist eine Jesusstatue im Stadtviertel Casablanca.

Che Guevara und Kuba

Direkt gegenüber steht La Cabaña de Che Guevara, das Wohnhaus Che Guevaras in Havanna, das heute ein Museum ist.

Das kristallklare Wasser, die unberührten Strände und die Freundlichkeit der Crew machten diesen Tag unvergesslich.

So recht wollte sich uns die angebliche Magie der Malecón nicht zeigen und so bogen wir ausflüge in sharm el sheikh in die belebten Straßen und Gassen der Stadt, um zu Fuß den Rückweg in die Altstadt zu wagen.

Das wahre Havanna

Und genau hier, in den namenlosen Straßen, hatten wir das Gefühl, dem echten Havanna zu begegnen.
